Mario Bellini, “Gli Scacchi” tables designed for B&B Italia in the 1970s. Modular forms inspired by chess pieces, somewhere between furniture and sculpture. Soft geometric volumes create a playful balance between function and object, characteristic of Bellini’s radical Italian design language of the 1970s. Designed to be arranged freely in space, the pieces shift between seating landscape, sculptural composition and conversation pit.
